    Internationale Galerij Orez werd opgericht in april 1960 op de begane grond van het huis Javastraat 17 te Den Haag met de Rotterdamse kunstverzamelaar Hans Sonnenberg als artistiek leider. De galerie richtte zich al gauw op de 'nieuwe tendenzen' in de eigentijdse kunst en dat betekende een voorkeur voor abstracte, koele, celebrale kunst die viel onder de noemer ZERO of Nul. 'Orez' was het omgekeerde van ZERO. In 1964 namen Albert Vogel en Leo Verboon Orez over. Vanaf dat moment maakt de galerie een grote vlucht.
