    Summary note
    A group of Komsomol members founds the May-Balyk state farm in Kazakhstan. The frivolous young man Zhenya Omega is appointed as a water carrier when it becomes clear he cannot be trusted with a tractor. In time, Zhenya falls in love, which is unrequited, and instead finds his joy in finally becoming a tractor driver.
