The Government Information Locator Service (GILS) was created in 1994 to identify public information resources within the Federal Government, describe the information available in these resources, and assist in obtaining the information. Although now obsolete, the GILS application is available as an archive encompassing GILS records from December 7, 1994 through September 2, 2008 at: GILS Archive Zip File. The GILS archive Zip File is also accessible via a link at the bottom of the basic search page. For additional information about GILS, please see the readme.txt file contained within the Zip file.
