    Summary note
    • The Stuttgart Neue Lusthaus was commissioned by Herzog Ludwig and built between 1584 and 1593 by its master builder Georg Beer. As one of the most important Renaissance buildings north of the Alps, the building already represented the political and cultural leadership of the Wuerttemberg duchy in the 16th and 17th centuries. Today, only the ruins of the former palace built in the palace gardens remain. Within the scope of a research project at the University of Stuttgart, the changing history of the Neue Lusthaus has been reconstructed. The publication presents the newly gained insights in detail in terms of historical, stylistic, contextual and constructive contexts. Numerous historical illustrations, often unknown so far, supplement the explanations.
