Summary note
Memoirs of a French Jewish woman, born in 1926 in Paris. On 16 July 1942 she and her family were arrested. Her parents were deported, but she and her brother were released. Her brother went over to the Free Zone, and she was placed in a home run by UGIF. In July 1944 she was arrested again, with 400 other children. They were taken first to Drancy and then deported to Auschwitz. She underwent a selection by Mengele and was locked up for three days, awaiting death; in the last minute she managed to join another group which was sent to Bergen-Belsen, where she was liberated. Of the 400 children deported in July 1944 only 15 survived. (From the Bibliography of the Vidal Sassoon International Center for the Study of Antisemitism).
