Summary note
The Eurobarometer series is a unique cross-national and cross-temporal survey program conducted on behalf of the European Commission. These surveys regularly monitor public opinion in the European Union (EU) member countries and consist of standard modules and special topic modules. The standard modules address attitudes towards European unification, institutions and policies, measurements for general socio-political orientations, as well as respondent and household demographics. The special topic modules address such topics as agriculture, education, natural environment and resources, public health, public safety and crime, and science and technology. This round of Eurobarometer surveys covered the standard trend questions. Respondents' opinions were collected regarding several important issues facing their country and the EU, including the economy, citizenship, taxation, education, unemployment, crisis measures, EU membership, EU 2020 goals, and shared values among EU members. Additionally, respondents were asked to report their level of trust in government institutions, whether they felt their voices were being heard in the electoral system, and where they received information about the EU. Demographic and other background information collected includes age, gender, nationality, marital status, occupation, age when stopped full-time education, household composition, ownership of a fixed or mobile telephone and other goods, difficulties in paying bills, level in society, and Internet use. In addition, country-specific data includes type and size of locality, region of residence, and language of interview (select countries).Cf: http://doi.org/10.3886/ICPSR36663

Methodology note
In all, Eurobarometer 82.3 interviewed 33,662 citizens in the 28 countries of the European Union after the 2013 enlargement with the accession of Croatia in July, plus remaining candidate countries Makedonia (FYROM), Montenegro, Serbia, Albania, Iceland, and Turkey, as well as the Turkish Community of Cyprus (Northern Cyprus). All respondents were residents in the respective country, with the respective nationalities, or for the EU member countries nationals and non-nationals but EU-citizens, and aged 15 and over. They were supposed to have sufficient command of one of the respective national language(s) to answer the questionnaire. Separate samples were drawn for Great Britain and Northern Ireland as well as for East and West Germany.
