    Summary note
A posthumous recognition for architect Alejandro Rodríguez Urzúa (b. Uruguay 1927-1976), one of the best architects of the second half of the 20th century in Chile with a fruitful professional and academic career in the region of Bio-Bio and considered one of the pioneers of modern architecture in Chile. In 1976, he was kidnapped for being a militant of the Communist Party in Chile and his body was never found. However, his architectural legacy, discrete and austere, has transcended decades and is still admired. His use of materials, functionality, image and composition has an expressive balance that immediately identify his works.
