Summary note
In the years between 1974 and 1977 in Florence the activity takes place in one of the most important production laboratories of video art of the time. The founder was Maria Gloria Bicocchi and headquarters in Via Ricasoli hosted video experimentations of artists who would become famous as Nam June Paik, Giuseppe Chiari, Arnulf Rainer, Charlemagne Palestine, Daniel Buren, Sandro Chia, Les Levine, Urs Lüthi, Giulio Paolini and the same Bill Viola, the overall experience of art / tapes / 22 was the technical director and is celebrated, in the days when the book comes out, from an exhibition at Palazzo Strozzi in Florence. The photographer who took part in the entire life of the working group, Gianni Melotti, now offers its archive for this book, rich in a countless number of shots on the players, the job, the backstage of those formidable years: a series of black and white that tell those moments better than any verbal narration.
