    Summary note
"The search for the sacred in art has accompanied the whole creative journey of Aligi Sassu. This volume presents four hundred and seventy-one works with a religious subject, created between 1927 and 1999 in the most varied techniques: from painting to fresco, from mosaic to engraving. There are few masters of the twentieth century who can boast such a vast production. Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi writes: "To fascinate the artist were the great themes, narratives, symbols and high characters of the Bible that he felt as the ideal parables to interpret the present, our troubled, but at the same time lively historical event It was above all the Crucifixion to conquer it, a sign that he considered capital for his faith, but also for his art and for the history of humanity itself"." --Translated from back cover
