    • Title from title page (fol. 1a in the foliation in pencil).
    • Physical description: 19 lines per page. Written in medium small taʻlīq in black ink with use of red ; some words and sentences written on a yellow ground. Light cream paper with watermark in Cyrilic. Blind embossed stamp with inscription "KI" in Cyrilic script on fol. 1a. Subject headings and notes to the reader on the margins. Excerpt quoting the Qurʼān on jihād on fol. 1a. One slip of paper with annotations placed between fol. 42 and 43. Foliation in pencil using Western numerals (omits the first fol.).
    • Inscription in Arabic script on a label pasted on the upper cover: "ʻUlūm adabīyah 32 Ḥ". Inscription in Arabic script on a label pasted on the pastedown of the upper cover: "673/2 Ḥ".
    • Origin: Copy completed in Jumād[á] al-Awwal 1258 [June-July 1842] (colophon, fol. 441a).
    • Patronage: Copied for Imām Shamīl ("imāmunā al-aʻẓam wa-ustādhunā al-akram Shamwīl"). See colophon, fol. 441a.

    Dark brown leather over paper pasteboards for upper and lower covers, fore-edge flap and envelope flap. Blind-tooling on covers and flaps. Paper pastedowns. Spine badly damaged.
