Summary note
Commentary on Iẓhār al-asrār, a treatise on grammar by Mehmet Birgivı̂ (Muḥammad al-Birkawī, d. 981/1573). The name of the author appears as Adalı in GAL. The script and paper indicate that this copy is of the same origin as the other MSS from the entourage of Imām Shamīl (Dagestan) in Yahuda's collection. The text is preceded by several short texts on fol. 4b-6a, including verses of poetry in praise of Shamīl attributed to Idrīs Efendi (fol. 6a), and by a Waṣiyah by Jaʻfar Efendi ibn Abī Bakr, dated 18 Shaʻbān 1280 [Jan. 28, 1864] on fol. 1b. The seal of Jaʻfar appears on fol. 1a-b, 3a, 6a.
