    Summary note
A remarkable portrait showing us the inner world of the great Russian writer, Alexander Solzhenitsyn. The documentary is based on Sokurov's talks with Solzhenitsyn and his wife (Sokurov's small crew was the first to receive Solzhenitsyn's permission to shoot in the writer's house near Moscow). The film's focus is not strictly biographical; the writer is of interest to the filmmaker more for his attitudes, thoughts and present life, than for his legendary past.
