    Summary note
Explains fusion as the process whereby enormous gravitational forces squeeze hydrogen atoms together at temperatures as high as 15 million degrees, with the intense heat causing the atoms to assume plasma form and to fuse, releasing energy. Visits major U.S. fusion research facilities and examines the prospects for developing fusion as an alternative to current energy sources. Narrated by Neil Armstrong.
