Summary note
Zadek's production of Aufstieg Und Fall Der Stadt Mahagonny, which combines Brecht's text with Weill's music, was recorded at the `98 Salzburg festival. The Opera was one of the greatest successes of its day when it originally opened in `31, and ran for over 50 performances. Its songs, most of all Oh moon of Alabama, are still great hits today.
