    Summary note
A group of Algerian Arabs serves in a French Army unit during the French-Algerian War. As they cross a patch of half deserted Algerian countryside in the summer of 1958, they are forced to serve as an uneasy liaison between the army and the local people, who view them as traitors. At the same time, they are viewed with mistrust by their fellow white French soldiers, who harbor prejudices against Arabs.
