An autobiography by Marie-Claire Schreiber, wife of the French politician Pierre Mendès France. Pp. 58-110 describe the World War II period. Born in a French Jewish assimilated family, settled for centuries in France, she was baptized, but during the war she had to obtain "Aryan" papers in order to escape deportation.
